Consortium

The Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers (PIChE) has established the Philippine National Consortium on Net Zero Initiative, led by Prof. Rex B. Demafelis and Engr. Bernadette T. Magadia. This initiative supports the UN’s Race to Zero campaign to halve global emissions by 2030 and transition to a zero-carbon world, as per the Paris Agreement. The consortium, with UPLB ILCAL as its technical arm, focuses on training, collaboration, and advocacy for sustainable practices.

This training is a six-month online training course on sustainability and the circular economy, specifically tailored for chemical engineers and environmental management professionals. Scheduled to commence on June 08, 2024, the program is designed to enhance knowledge and skills in circular economy principles and cleaner production techniques. Interested candidates can apply online from May 1 to May 15, 2024. The course promises a comprehensive curriculum with practical applications.

Gen AI Webinar

This webinar, titled “Empowering PIChE Fellows with Generative Artificial Intelligence,” hosted by Abet and Evie Laurito, wasdelivered to enhance the AI skills of PIChE Fellows. Scheduled last April 2, 2024, it covered AI differentiation, commonly used AI apps, and basic skills in AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini apps. The event provided a productive learning experience for fellows aspiring to advance beyond basic Google searches.
